The position involves performing pre-analytic specimen processing, operating various laboratory and office equipment, and entering information and test orders into the laboratory computer system. The individual may also respond to a high volume of phone calls seeking laboratory testing information. A key responsibility is ensuring correct patient identification on specimens and documentation, as well as resolving pre-analytic specimen-related issues. This role is integral to the laboratory team, providing support in patient testing. Additional tasks may include complex reagent preparation, managing work unit supply inventory, operating automated systems, and providing training to others. Individuals hired for this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. It is important to note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, except for the TN visa classification, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
