About The Position

As a Lab Phlebotomist PRN with Medical City Weatherford, you will be part of an organization that is devoted to giving back to the community. You will perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing, transport and process samples, and perform clerical duties as necessary. This role reports to the Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager, and Laboratory Director.

Requirements

• HR diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Acute care hospital experience is strongly preferred.
• Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures.
• Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
