The Phlebotomist position at Ottawa Medical & Diagnostic Center involves performing phlebotomy duties in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.   • Organize and systematically approach all areas of work while courteously receiving patients.
  • Obtain proper specimens, verify patient identity, and label specimens accurately.
  • Use good judgment when procuring specimens from difficult patients or unusual circumstances.
  • Prioritize the collection and delivery of various types of orders to the laboratory.
  • Maintain and obtain phlebotomy items for blood collection.
  • Monitor and use the computer system for collection batches and specimen reports.
  • Exemplify professionalism and a positive attitude as a public relations provider for the laboratory.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and instruct outpatients on specimen collection.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care relative to the age-specific needs of patients.
  • Adhere to attendance policy and document absences and tardiness.
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation while on duty.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organized, able to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Knowledge of clinical or anatomical laboratory functions.
  • Medical terminology or science background.
  • Associate's degree in an Allied Health field.
  • Experience preferred.
  • PBT (ASCP) registration.
  • Completion of a regionally accredited phlebotomy certificate program.
  • Flexible scheduling based on availability.
