About The Position

The Boeing Company is looking for a Lab Operations Engineer to join our team at the Propulsion, Vibration, Noise Laboratories in Seattle, WA. This position will support operations, repair & maintenance, and upgrades to a multitude of labs, facilities and infrastructure that enables Propulsion, Vibration & Noise testing for all Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) and Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) products. Lab facilities include an aero-acoustic wind tunnel, fuels systems & fuel properties testing, hazardous test facility, nozzle test facility, along with noise & vibration labs. Each facility has a unique suite of equipment and infrastructure to support it including air compressors & air distribution systems, vacuum systems, Liquid Nitrogen (LN2), refrigeration, steam, fuel & oil storage systems and propane. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2), Mid-Level (Level 3) and Senior (Level 4) Lab Operations Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience managing projects and utilizing standard project management tools

Nice To Haves

  • Level 3: 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiar with various kinds of piping systems, valves, compressors, pumps, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Plant Engineering experience
  • Reliability Engineering experience
  • Experience with CAD Design
  • Experience in Test & Evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with lab leads to address infrastructure and equipment needs
  • Coordinate with Facilities, Equipment Services organizations and external vendors on required maintenance support and infrastructure related issues and projects
  • Lead lab safety walks and coordinate with EHS and other teams to implement safety enhancements
  • Operate the aero-acoustic wind tunnel
  • Assist in capital and expense Long Range Business Planning
  • Assist in test planning and test operations in various labs
  • Create and maintain documentation and operation procedures of labs, facilities and infrastructure
  • Work under general direction
