Lab Medical Technologist I
About The Position
Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full time Lab Medical Technologist I to perform and interpret automated and manual testing procedures. ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for performing and interpreting automated and manual testing procedures on blood, urine, and other body specimens. This position does not involve direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older and does not require age specific experience, specialized training and/or expertise to serve this population.
Requirements
- BS Degree with a major in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or microbiology or a minimum of 90 credits.
- Foreign degrees require a Credential Equivalency Evaluation.
- Up to 3 years of clinical lab experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Good close vision and color perception required and able to read the Jaeger Eye Chart.
Nice To Haves
- MT (ASCP) certification or eligible is desired.
