About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) PRN position at Blanchard Valley Hospital involves obtaining specimens for laboratory testing and performing technical procedures in various laboratory disciplines including chemistry, hematology, microscopic evaluations, and microbiology. Requirements

• Graduate of a NAACLS approved Medical Laboratory Technician educational program.
• Must be certified or become certified as MLT(ASCP) or MLT(AMT) within 12 months of hire.
• College transcript required.
• Customer-focused and service-oriented with effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Organized with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Demonstrated leadership and positive interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.

Responsibilities

• Organizes department and develops orientation protocol for new staff and students.

• Obtains and processes blood specimens using correct techniques.

• Maintains quality control records and assesses quality control results.
• Records laboratory results accurately and assesses abnormal test results.

• Interacts positively with patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Adheres to attendance policy and maintains punctuality.
