About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services. Responsible for the operational and fiscal management of the clinical laboratory and pathology, in accordance with established hospital and department policies and standards. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements mandated by appropriate State and Federal accrediting and licensing agencies. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe. Must be prepared to participate in bench testing as departments needs require. Perform routine laboratory testing to support the department as needed.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current and valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license generalist required.
  • ASCP Certification in Medical Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Meeting qualification as Technical Supervisor pursuant to CLIA regulations Subpart M -- Personnel for Non-waived Testing, sections 493.1423, and 493.1489, and must possess a degree of skill commensurate with individual's education, training or experience and technical abilities
  • Knowledge and skills of laboratory accreditation standards, computer system, budgeting, general accounting, power point, general statistics, supervision, spreadsheet analysis, word processing, business analysis, quality assurance and management system required.
  • Starting in January 2013 for all new hires, Bachelor's Degree required, in a Medical technology or related scientific field.
  • Working knowledge of Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills in public communication, public speaking, change management, team building, Quality tools, Quality control and preventive action with root cause analysis desired.
