About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Lab Instrument Support Engineer to provide technical support, maintenance, and lifecycle management of laboratory equipment and automated systems. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, documentation, and ensuring the reliability and compliance of a broad portfolio of laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will combine technical troubleshooting skills with strong attention to documentation and compliance in a regulated laboratory environment, while also working closely with vendors and serving as liaison between the laboratory and IT to ensure seamless equipment performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical and software domains.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for laboratory equipment, including liquid handlers, plate readers, TapeStations, Bioanalyzers, gel readers, and other general lab devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
  • Assist laboratory staff with equipment setup, calibration, and routine operation.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and coordinate vendor service visits as needed.
  • Maintain records of calibration certifications, service activities, IQ/OQ/PQ, and preventive maintenance logs.
  • Ensure equipment documentation is standardized, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with vendors for instrument service, warranty claims, upgrades, and training.
  • Act as a liaison between laboratory operations and IT support, ensuring timely resolution of instrument connectivity, computer, and software-related issues.
  • Support the delivery, installation, relocation, decommissioning, or disposal of laboratory instruments.
  • Coordinate warranty replacements, loaner instruments, and shipping logistics.
  • Track and manage equipment inventory and associated documentation.
  • Provide training to laboratory staff on the proper use and care of instrumentation.
  • Partner with laboratory supervisors, managers, and purchasing on new equipment evaluations and acquisitions.
  • Work closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance during audits and inspections.
  • Review equipment maintenance logs and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Contribute to metrics tracking, including uptime, utilization, and capacity of instruments.
  • Recommend new tools, workflows, or improvements to support laboratory operations.
