About The Position

The Department of Biobehavioral Health in the College of Health and Human Development , is seeking candidates for a Lab Coordinator in Dr. Hannah Schreier’s laboratory . Research in the lab focuses on understanding the biological underpinnings of adverse experiences on youth and young adult chronic disease risk with an emphasis on functional immune outcomes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience working within a clinical or research laboratory context is required.
  • Candidates should have strong communication skills, work well in a team, and be able to work carefully, responsibly, and with great attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience performing whole blood cultures and ELISAs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform whole blood cultures and culture harvests
  • Run multiplex and ELISA assays, including use of the Ella equipment
  • Clean, process, and analyze data
  • Maintain and oversee quality control measures and standard operating procedures in the lab for all lab personnel
  • Adjust existing protocols and develop new laboratory protocols for ongoing projects as well as grant renewals
  • Maintain supplies of necessary materials, primarily lab consumables (gloves, pipette tips, etc.)
  • Monitor and track laboratory expenditures across ongoing studies; reconcile supplies and equipment purchased to invoices and purchase card statements.
  • Monitor project progress and research and suggest solutions as challenges arise
  • Serve as an indirect supervisor to one full-time Research Technologist, graduate students, and undergraduate students, who will include training, scheduling, and overseeing task completion.
