East Liverpool City Hospital, a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an award-winning community hospital proudly serving residents of the tristate region since 1905. With 152 licensed beds and more than 500 employees, the hospital averages 31,000 Emergency Department visits annually. Its medical staff comprises over 160 physicians and 21 resident physicians. The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, general surgery, medical stabilization for substance abuse, behavioral health for adults over the age of 55, and is the only cardiac rehabilitation program in Columbiana County. The Laboratory Clerk performs clerical duties for the laboratory, including answering telephones, faxing, and accepting verbal orders for new and add-on tests. This role involves verifying patient charges, verifying insurance if applicable, and reviewing the Personal Information Sheet (PI Sheet) with laboratory requisitions. The clerk also performs customer service functions and prepares requisitions for outpatients and inpatients using the laboratory computer system. Additional duties include filing patient reports, retrieving patient results for physicians, and processing requisitions for send-out to the reference lab. The Laboratory Clerk is expected to demonstrate adequate knowledge of laboratory test terminology and patient preparation requirements, exhibit good telephone etiquette, and greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner, requiring good communication skills.
