The Lab Clerk performs related clerical, billing, and charting responsibilities. This role involves preparing all specimens to be sent to reference laboratories and obtaining proper blood specimens from patients in the hospital. The Lab Clerk is also responsible for collecting appropriate control specimens as requested and assisting technologists and other personnel as time and training permits. Additionally, the Lab Clerk identifies age-specific phlebotomy needs of patients and implements appropriate procedures and processes.
