The Lab Clerk is responsible for all aspects of the pre-analytical process in the laboratory. Key responsibilities include following Standard Operating procedures, receiving and sorting specimens, performing initial data entry of test orders into the Laboratory Information System, and validating various test orders against specimens prior to scanning and entering to ensure they match. The Lab Clerk will also aliquot specimens and batch them appropriately in preparation for testing, ensure correct labels are affixed to test orders, any additional documentation, specimens, and test tubes, and maintain a clean and organized work area at all times. Additionally, the Lab Clerk is responsible for ensuring work areas are properly stocked with applicable supplies, scanning and electronically filing paperwork, maintaining specimen inventory, and disposing of samples using the designated machinery. The role also includes entering data into designated spreadsheets and completing final checks on all orders entered into the LIS to ensure accuracy. The Lab Clerk assists with other duties as delegated.
