Professional responsibilities for planning, performing, evaluating and reporting CLIA'88 waived testing. This includes pre-analytical, analytical and post‑analytical function; performing quality control and quality assurance activities; monitoring supply inventory; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with health care providers, and patients, other hospital personnel and other organizations. Responsibilities: Responsibility for obtaining, evaluating, processing and preparing specimens for testing; interpreting provider orders; communicating with providers and patient care personnel concerning testing and orders. Responsibility for urinalysis instrument maintenance and set-up, verifying urinalysis reagent performance, and organizing specimens prior to testing; and reports inventory shortages to lab manager/chief tech. Coordinate assigned testing activity with other laboratory personnel; selecting and running appropriate urine dipstick quality control material; applying learned skills in problem solving and trouble shooting. Perform data entry functions; taking the appropriate action (specified by laboratory policy) for communicating unusual or critical results to the appropriate patient care provider (nursing staff, provider office, etc.). Maintains knowledge of the interfering substances that can invalidate analytical results. Manages faxing of patient reports. The position is responsible for performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by laboratory director, manager, chief tech, medical or administrative directors.
