Osmo is headquartered in New York, NY, with a new facility in New Jersey, and offices in Somerville, MA. Osmo is seeking a Lab Associate to join our expanding Human Perception team. You will play a crucial role in supporting all of Osmo’s pipelines from AI and compound discovery to perfumery. You are a good communicator, detail oriented with experience in a laboratory setting. Your responsibilities include organization of our chemical compound inventory, sample preparation, adhering to stringent safety protocols, and assisting with packing and shipping tasks.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus or 2-5 years of high-throughput lab experience.
  • Strong understanding of chemical safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with operating analytical chemistry instruments and/or Tecan, Opentrons, Agilent, and Gerstel equipment.
  • Knowledge of perfumery and fragrance ingredients. Experience working with fragrance applications.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL/Python.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day chemical lab operations, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
  • Follow strict safety protocols in the handling, storage, and disposal of chemical compounds to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Prepare and organize fragrance samples for application testing and other sensory evaluations (e.g., performance and stability in personal care and home care products).
  • Prepare and organize fragrance samples for analytical evaluation. Operate analytical chemistry instruments to conduct tests, gather data, and support research efforts.
  • Operate liquid handling instruments to prepare samples and create mixtures and formulas.
  • Assist in packing and shipping tasks, ensuring that lab products are safely and correctly prepared for transportation.
