Obtains blood samples and other non-blood specimens from patients and may deliver samples to the laboratory. Provides factual information concerning laboratory tests, according to standard procedure. The job tasks will vary based on the needs of the site.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit required.
  • CPR and Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification preferred.
  • Graduation from a Phlebotomy technical training program strongly preferred.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through previous medical practice experience preferred (up to 1 year).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in the use of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.

Responsibilities
