About The Position

Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital has a full-time Lab Associate II opportunity. The role involves assisting technologists in receiving, processing, and aliquoting samples to send out to other facilities for testing, as well as distributing samples to their designated areas in a core lab. The Lab Associate II will also be responsible for answering phone calls from other departments and working to resolve interdepartmental questions. The position requires working nights, specifically four 10-hour shifts per week, alternating every other weekend (Friday/Saturday). Additionally, a sign-on bonus and annual raises are offered.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen handling.
• Proficient in performing additional tasks such as central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Assist technologists in receiving, processing, and aliquoting samples for testing.
• Distribute samples to designated areas in the core lab.
• Answer phone calls from other departments and resolve interdepartmental questions.
• Interpret physician orders and order tests in the appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, ensuring positive patient identification and interaction, and maintain specimen integrity.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory.
• Coordinate a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuations in workload.
• Perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other assigned duties.
