About The Position

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a PRN Lab Associate I - Phlebotomy for Memorial East Shiloh - Laboratory-MES (Memorial East Shiloh:1404 Cross St., Shiloh, IL)
Position Details:
PRN – Work as needed (one full weekend a month & 2 Holidays a year)
not eligible for benefits
Providing excellent patient care while drawing lab specimens on inpatients & outpatients. Replenishing supplies, provides effective communication.

Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.
Role Purpose
Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• No Experience

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of Phlebotomy experience (preferred but not required)
• Phlebotomist
• Lab Technician
• Lab Associate
• Laboratory
• <2 years Experience
• < 2 years Supervisor Experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
