About The Position
Join the Laboratory Courier Services team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and play a critical role in ensuring specimens are safely and accurately transported for testing. This is a high-mobility, detail-driven position that supports the entire laboratory operation. This position does NOT include phlebotomy Schedule Part-Time | 32 hours per week Sun, Mon, Fri, Sat 11pm-730am Shift Differential Eligible Benefits Eligible Role Purpose Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity. Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times. Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Transport laboratory specimens from inpatient and clinical areas to the Core Laboratory (IOH building)
- Follow strict specimen handling protocols (temperature control, coolers, FDS compliance)
- Scan and log specimens using SPel app and/or QR scanning via department iPhone
- Maintain accurate documentation both manually and electronically
- Participate in daily team huddle and equipment handoff
- Complete required continuing education (corporate + department-specific)
