About the position

The Lab Assistant position at Actalent involves preparing and analyzing various types of samples using advanced analytical equipment and techniques. The role is crucial for providing analytical data that supports process control, quality control, and product development in the Analytical Services laboratory. The successful candidate will work in a structured environment, adhering to internal and ISO standards while ensuring accurate reporting and maintenance of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and analyzing samples using various analytical equipment such as pH meters, gas chromatographs, and High Pressure Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC).
• Performing microbiological tests to determine spore counts and contamination levels.
• Operating STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Waters Empower laboratory data acquisition system.
• Searching databases for test methods, specifications, and standards to complete analyses.
• Recording, calculating, and reporting analytical results accurately and promptly.
• Maintaining records to meet internal and ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 requirements.
• Completing daily instrument calibrations and inspections.
• Maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing solutions, cleaning glassware, and disposing of waste.
• Understanding RCRA hazardous waste regulations and waste determinations.
• Diagnosing typical instrument problems and providing support to others.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to optimize efficiency and productivity.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic understanding of HPLC and GC operation.
