Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Combination of education and experience commensurate with responsibilities
Lab assistant experience desired

Responsibilities

Accessions patient specimens.
Enters patient demographics, clinical history, specimen biopsy information into the laboratory information system; prints and attaches to the original requisition in preparation of case for the Pathologist.
Be able to assist putting together cases for distribution to Pathology.
Prints out slides and cassettes for patient specimens.
Work with practices to resolve any discrepancies.
Answers phones and respond to inquiries and requests from practices.
Files slides, blocks, requisitions, pathology reports, business document, etc.
Assist with unpacking supplies – placing them in the proper storage location and dating the appropriate items
Other duties as assigned
