About The Position

To provide accurate and timely data entry of patient data through the use of key software systems. To perform specimen processing, receive and sort specimens and accurately track specimens.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in a health care setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and communicate proficiently.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Competent in the use of keyboard, telephone and filing.
  • Typing and keyboard skills: Minimum 5000 keystrokes per hour (alpha, numeric) with 90 percent accuracy.
  • Exposure to infectious biological specimens and sharps are experienced on occasion. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
  • Work requires the analytical ability to gather and interpret data.
  • Ability to lift to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry of orders into Laboratory computer system
  • Perform department clerical duties.
  • Participate in Quality activities to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Perform specimen processing.
