About The Position

Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Collects nasal and throat swabs from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays. Orders lab tests in the computer with Medical Necessity. Receives laboratory specimens. Check orders for accuracy. Fax results and answer phones.

Requirements

• Education Level: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certification/Licensure: BLS

• Paramedical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates specific specimen collection skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Demonstrates specific specimen processing skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Demonstrates specific laboratory outpatient skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Represents the department in a professional manner.
• Performs phlebotomy at Staunton Rehab and the Clinics.
