About The Position

The Lab Assistant assists the Medical Technologists with the daily operations of the laboratory. Responsibilities include but are not be limited to: Receiving specimens for processing and log into the system. Interacting with the Client Services Department as required to ensure correct sample information. Helping prepare the specimen and setting up supplies as needed for processing. Helping maintain inventory. Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the receiving area and equipment as well as collect, sterilize and wash equipment and supplies from the lab. Safely handling biohazard waste for disposal. Preparing samples to be sent out for reference testing as required. Assisting with maintenance of the record storage system. Working on special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Associate's degree with equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the laboratory field
