Assistants are responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Samples include, but are not limited to: venous blood, capillary blood, urine, throat swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs and specimens collected by non-lab personnel. Assistants will also be responsible for performing non-technical, simple laboratory tasks in all sections, such as operating and maintaining the records of basic instruments, centrifuges and dishwashers. Assistants duties also include, but are not limited to: clerical duties such as patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution, filing and the collection of drug screens and breath alcohol testing.
