About The Position

As a Laboratory Assistant at Mayo Clinic, you will perform tasks to assist Laboratory technical staff and laboratory leadership. Your responsibilities will include clerical work, sample processing, and laboratory testing. You will greet patients and recognize when further clarification is needed from clinical staff regarding laboratory orders, obtaining required information to process laboratory specimens in a timely manner. It is crucial to maintain proper patient identification and confidentiality at all times. You will also convey accurate laboratory test result information to providers and other clinical staff while ensuring adherence to 'read back' policies. This position requires a commitment of 2 years before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. Please note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Moderate to advanced computer skills
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize work and manage time wisely
• Ability to adjust to changes in work volumes and projects
• Excellent customer service skills

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy experience
• Experience working in a medical field
• Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed
