About The Position

Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Processes specimens to be sent to reference and main labs. Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays. Orders lab tests in the computer. Receives laboratory specimens. Performs waived testing and results in Meditech. Performs Quality Controls and calibrations on the waived testing as required. Collects throat and nasal swabs on various respiratory antigens including Covid. Assists in registering patients and all that is necessary with this job to help with patient care.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS
• Paramedical training preferred.
• 1 - 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred with all ages.

• Demonstrates specific specimen collection skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Demonstrates specific specimen processing Skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Demonstrates specific laboratory outpatient skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual.
• Represents the department in a professional manner.
• Demonstrates the understanding to perform quality controls and calibration on waived testing.
• Demonstrates the ability to register patients and any duties necessary to help with patient care.
