About The Position

Under the direction of an MLT or MLS, the Laboratory Assistant completes phlebotomy, sample processing and appropriate laboratory testing. The Laboratory Assistant must demonstrate the ability to work with neonates, infants, children, adults and geriatric persons. The Laboratory Assistant participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Basic clerical skills.
• Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism.
• Express ideas in a clear, creative and succinct manner.
• Flexibility for shift rotation within the department.

Responsibilities

• Complete phlebotomy procedures.
• Process samples for laboratory testing.
• Conduct appropriate laboratory testing.
• Work with patients of all ages including neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatric persons.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
