About The Position

Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department. The position involves learning job duties assigned to the Pre-Analytical Assistant I and developing an understanding of how all the functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together and how they impact Technical departments and result quality. The role includes identifying problems with specimen types, missing information, etc., with regard to sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage of specimens; resolving or forwarding information in support of timely problem resolution. The assistant must demonstrate an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering and meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training. Additional responsibilities include completing all required written documentation, reporting to work on time, and supporting the department's performance in the event of coworker absences. The position also involves learning additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to allow timely progression to the next level.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Minimal data entry skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a production environment.
