  • Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
  • Labels tubes and specimen containers.
  • Collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision.
  • Performs venipuncture.
  • Assists pathologists as needed.
  • Prepares solutions.
  • Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens.
  • Obtains blood specimens for all age groups serviced.
  • Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment.
  • Follows standard precautions at all times.
  • Manages and operates laboratory equipment safely and correctly.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of new testing methods, products, instrumentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of hospital policy, CAP, JCAHO, state and other regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete blood draws independently within six-weeks of hire.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Completion of phlebotomy program.
  • 6 months of laboratory experience.
  • Additional languages preferred.
