Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Rate of Pay: This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 9, with an annual salary range of $34,620 to $39,886. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable. FLSA Status: Non-exempt Grant Funded: No Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist the welding program in maintaining a functional academic environment for students. The position provides assistance in maintaining the welding labs, including lab inventory, lab cleanliness/safety, and lab preparedness for instruction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must have completed relevant college-level courses in Welding, HVAC or Computer Integrated Manufacturing with a grade C or better.
  • Ability to operate basic shop tools.
  • Experience in the function of welding and machining equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and experience repairing machinery, troubleshooting skills in the context of machine maintenance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics.
  • Ability to understand and follow lab procedures and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of measurements when using a tape measure or micrometer.
  • The ability to identify the difference between mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory exercise set-ups and student supplies.
  • Pick up steel donations at various manufacturers and then sort the steel.
  • Sheer the appropriate metal to specifications for the student welding projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment problems, safely and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain the welding lab.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
