Responsible for the support of technical areas (Histology and Surgical Pathology) and independent performance of specimen accessioning, preparation, and storage. May perform waived technical procedures, associated quality control, and preventive maintenance. Participates in Quality management processes as needed.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of technical or administrative experience in the lab preferred
  • Training and experience as a Laboratory Assistant in an accredited computerized laboratory preferred.
  • Good communication skills, entry level computer knowledge and typing skills necessary.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of technical or administrative experience in the lab preferred
  • Training and experience as a Laboratory Assistant in an accredited computerized laboratory preferred.
  • Prior Laboratory experience preferred
