About The Position

The Iowa Clinic is looking for a Lab Assistant to join our team. This position is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare in Central Iowa. As a Lab Assistant, you will be responsible for collecting, processing, and storing patient samples, performing patient testing, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year laboratory experience.
• Demonstrates ability to consistently meet work schedule demands in the clinic.
• Obtains adequate blood specimens from patients using appropriate specimen collection and handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collects, processes and stores patient samples as per protocol and safety guidelines.
• Performs patient testing within specified timelines.
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment.
• Helps maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and maintenance are completed in a timely manner.
• Labels all specimens in accordance with clinical laboratory standards and Clinic policies and procedures.
• Prepares specimens for delivery or delivers to appropriate laboratory areas.
• Performs laboratory testing utilizing laboratory equipment in accordance with Clinic policies/procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Performs computer functions to support collection and processing of specimens.
• Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities, adhering to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
• Assumes accountability for enhancing own knowledge through workshops, in-services, etc.
