About The Position

Sierra Medical Center is part of Northern Nevada Health System, a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. Sierra Medical Center is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering services including 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services, and much more. This Lab Assistant opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. We are looking for a dynamic individual to perform venipuncture and skin puncture competently and expediently. Has working knowledge of test requirements, assists in clinical laboratory.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State Laboratory Assistant licensure required.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures and files paperwork.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.
