About The Position

The Lab Assistant position at Broadlawns Medical Center involves performing blood collection and ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen integrity in various high-paced work areas. The role requires interaction with customers and includes additional responsibilities such as sample processing, registration, and clerical duties. The position is full-time with a schedule generally from Monday to Friday, including every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year experience as a Phlebotomist.
• Good driving record with no more than one moving violation in the last year and no more than two in the prior three years, with no DUI or DWI convictions.
• Valid State of Iowa Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen integrity.
• Label samples correctly and process them in the Laboratory Information System.
• Interact with customers in a pleasant and efficient manner.
• Assist in clerical duties of the department and train new employees.
• Teach phlebotomy students and provide courier duties for clients and clinics.
