Lab Assistant Float – Clinical Labs
About The Position
Work Schedule : 60% FTE, day shift. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday each week with start times ranging from 7:45AM – 8:30AM. This position will work across many satellite lab locations and will be required to cover sick calls. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. We are seeking a Lab Assistant – Float to: Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages and ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling. Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform the kit testing, and associated instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing). Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system. Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program and clinical rotation.
- 6 months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Experience Required
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and processing Preferred
- Phlebotomist (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent Preferred
- Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent Preferred
