About The Position

Assists in the emergency medical technician (EMT) course.

Requirements

  • Current EMT or higher license in good standing with Oregon State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) office
  • Current CPR card for basic life support (BLS) providers.
  • Proficient in emergency medical technician skills
  • Knowledge of emergency medical technician industry
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to competently and professional engage students in a dynamic learning environment

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience
  • Experience as an emergency medical technician and/or paramedic

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the set up and break down of lab materials and equipment needed for individual courses.
  • Assists in creating simulations that allow students to demonstrate their critical thinking ability, technical skills, and interpersonal interactions
  • Assists students with their technical skills practice.
  • Assesses student performance in skill practice, scenarios, and simulations, according to the Oregon Health Authority's Competency Based Assessment framework.
  • Communicates with the course instructor, EMT program director, and other program staff regarding expectations, concerns, and individual student certification.
  • Promotes a safe class environment and assists with ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and college requirements.
  • Operates and trouble shoots technical equipment in the lab.
  • Tracks inventory of supplies required for learning activities, and alerts program eirector when inventory is low.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
