About The Position

The Lab Analyst - GCMS position at SGS North America involves preparing and analyzing samples using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) techniques. The role requires adherence to SGS' analytical standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emphasizes accuracy, precision, and safety in laboratory practices. The analyst will work both independently and as part of a team to meet production targets and ensure timely sample processing.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline with 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories, or 3 years of relevant experience (e.g., Sample Prep).
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline with 1-2 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (preferred).
• Advanced English language skills.
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepares and analyzes samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs using GCMS instrumentation.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Assists with validation and method detection limit (MDL) studies.
• Prepares responses to client inquiries and corrective action requests (CARs).
• Inputs and maintains technical information to support laboratory functions.
• Maintains a Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
