The Henikoff Lab in the Basic Sciences Division is seeking a reliable Lab Aide to perform laboratory maintenance tasks and established routine protocols under direct supervision. This is an ideal position for a student interested in gaining laboratory experience while maintaining the flexibility to dedicate time to coursework. The position will start in January 2026 – August 2026.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; OR, High school senior with lab-based experience or demonstrated interest in the sciences.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate institution is preferred, preferably as a sophomore or junior in the biological sciences (e.g. biology, immunology, or microbiology).
  • Previous or current laboratory experience is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with learning new software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Stocking lab supplies, preparing reagents, disposing of biohazardous waste.
  • General lab cleaning and organization.
  • Collecting and processing samples from cells and formalin fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue samples.
  • Assisting with additional experiments as needed.
