The Henikoff Lab in the Basic Sciences Division is seeking a reliable Lab Aide to perform laboratory maintenance tasks and established routine protocols under direct supervision. This is an ideal position for a student interested in gaining laboratory experience while maintaining the flexibility to dedicate time to coursework. The position will start in January 2026 – August 2026.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; OR, High school senior with lab-based experience or demonstrated interest in the sciences.

Nice To Haves

Enrollment in an undergraduate institution is preferred, preferably as a sophomore or junior in the biological sciences (e.g. biology, immunology, or microbiology).
Previous or current laboratory experience is preferred but not a requirement.
Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
Basic computer skills and comfort with learning new software systems.

Responsibilities

Stocking lab supplies, preparing reagents, disposing of biohazardous waste.
General lab cleaning and organization.
Collecting and processing samples from cells and formalin fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue samples.
Assisting with additional experiments as needed.
