About The Position
The Full-Time Overnight Lab Aide position at Schweiger Dermatology Group's Pathology Lab in the Financial District is a vital role that supports the laboratory's operations by managing the intake of specimens and performing various administrative duties. This position does not involve technical duties but is crucial for maintaining the workflow and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The Lab Aide will be expected to adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a strong emphasis on detail, accuracy, and professionalism. The work schedule is set for the night shift, from Monday to Friday, 9 PM to 5:30 AM, allowing for a structured work environment while contributing to the lab's efficiency. In this role, the Lab Aide will be responsible for receiving laboratory specimens from couriers, reviewing them for proper labeling and acceptability, and resolving any discrepancies in labeling according to established SOPs. The Aide will sort specimens into appropriate cases for processing in-house or for referral to other laboratories based on various criteria, including insurance and provider preferences. Additionally, the Lab Aide will pre-accession and accession all specimens, transport materials safely between laboratory suites, and enter grossing information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is paramount, as is adherence to policies regarding biohazard and hazardous waste disposal. The Lab Aide will also be responsible for completing quality control logs as required by the laboratory's SOPs.
