The bank’s Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) team is responsible for identifying, investigating and monitoring relationships that pose a money laundering or terrorist financing risk in support of all legal and regulatory requirements relating to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing. The KYC (Know Your Customer) Associate is part of the Financial Crimes Operations team and is focused on complying with federal regulations as outlined in the BSA and USA PATRIOT Act including the ongoing gathering and analysis of documentation and transactional information. This position requires collaboration with front-line colleagues while gathering documentation. In this role you will perform ongoing enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews of the bank’s customers that operate in business lines with an elevated risk for money laundering.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial service company (banking) and BSA/AML compliance experience
  • Advanced knowledge of AML/CFT and OFAC regulatory requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of financial services operations, products, and services
  • Advanced knowledge of AML/CFT, USA PATRIOT Act and OFAC requirements and regulations
  • Knowledge of business operations of customers such as Money Services Businesses, Casinos, ATEM Owner/Operations and other higher risk entities
  • Ability to interpret and act on instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, internal partners, and external parties. Knows how to seek and encourage collaboration, and shares success
  • Can assert own ideas and persuade others; gain support and commitment from others; and mobilize people to act
  • Ability to work under pressure and ability to make decisions according to established guidelines; work unsupervised and to accomplish tasks accurately and on a timely basis; prioritize work; strong organizational skills
  • General understanding of different business structures
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (ability work with excel to analyze large data quickly and accurately sets)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production driven environment, while delivering quality standards
  • Represents the Bank professionally at every contact with customers, staff, and vendors

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of experience in compliance and/or banking related field
  • CAMS or CFE Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct EDD reviews on prospects and new/existing customers in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures
  • Perform research utilizing internet sources and/or third-party vendors to determine negative news and obtain due diligence information for prospects and new/existing customers
  • Analyze customer data, transactional activity and open-source information to determine legitimacy and potential risk exposure
  • Handles complex client onboarding escalations
  • Prepare written analysis and reports for all assigned reviews and make recommendations to management based on the outcome of the analysis
  • Be responsive and communicate effectively with colleagues throughout the bank
  • Adhere to all designated time frames, manage workflows to the specified deadlines and complete responsibilities in a satisfactory manner
  • Interact with internal partners including front-line, KYC, Financial crimes Compliance and other operational areas as necessary
  • Complete all training in a timely manner and attend seminars or continuing education as needed
  • Review and analyze data for trends, potential actions, and training needs
  • Assist with special projects, investigations, or reviews, as needed
