About The Position

As a Photojournalist you will shoot and edit videos of news, sports, and special features displaying awareness of the elements of good, compelling photojournalism. You will produce videos for television, station websites, and social media. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced news environment. Photojournalists work creatively with all reporters and producers to package news stories for broadcast.

Requirements

Minimum two years college or trade school with emphasis on Radio/TV or Journalism. Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted based on two years of experience equals one year of education.
Minimum two years of news photography experience at a network affiliate.
Must be able to operate all editing and recording equipment. Knowledge of Avid non-linear editing preferred.
Willingness to adapt to ever changing technology and an evolving newsroom.
Ability to work well with others and a willingness to help others when the need arises in all aspects of newsgathering.
Ability to work with a reporter or alone in the field to capture the story under tight deadlines.
Creative and passionate storyteller with an understanding of the National Press Photographers Association philosophies and practices.
Proficiency in operating professional camera equipment, including DSLR cameras, video cameras, and accessories.
Familiarity with journalistic ethics, standards, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Link of previous work sample required.
Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:

Responsibilities

Record sound and pictures on video for broadcasts and all digital platforms, displaying awareness of the elements of good photojournalism and employing keen lighting skills.
Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality, engaging, and impactful visual content to accompany news stories and feature segments.
Apply editing skills for stories. Organize video for broadcasting and all digital platforms. Avoid potential technical problems. Work with other departments to ensure smooth presentation.
Stay in contact with Assignment Desk throughout shift. Coordinate with Assignment Desk and Reporter; communicate ideas for specific story assignments.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments, including reporters, producers, editors, and news directors to ensure cohesive and comprehensive breaking news, events, and feature stories.
Maintain awareness of current events, technology, and terminology.
Adhere to journalistic ethics and standards, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity in all aspects of news gathering and reporting.
Maintains operational status of assigned equipment.
Prioritize safety protocols while covering assignments in the field, including adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing news events, deadlines, and priorities.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.
