About The Position

The Host/Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to restaurant guests, ensuring a positive and welcoming dining experience. This position requires a dynamic individual who is detail-oriented and proficient in managing guest interactions, order accuracy, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Host/Cashier will be expected to engage with guests using the 10/5 Rule, maintain the integrity of financial transactions, and assist team members to provide seamless service.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old to obtain a UMUGC Non-Support License (required).
  • Must be able to pass the UMUGC and CG background investigations (no financial crimes or other felonies).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least six months of experience in a similar position, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash, making change, and processing transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, remaining organized and efficient.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, with the ability to maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cash handling and POS terminal operation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive service to all guests and staff.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service at all times, addressing any issues with the “Find a Path to Yes” approach to guest concerns and thanking guests for their patronage.
  • Engage in friendly conversations with guests, utilizing the 10/5 Rule: make eye contact and smile from 10 feet away, and greet and speak to guests within 5 feet.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere by offering assistance and making guests feel valued.
  • Accurately input all orders into the POS terminal, process transactions, and ensure proper handling of cash, charges, and complimentary sales.
  • Adhere to financial procedures, ensuring accurate transactions and maintaining integrity in all financial interactions.
  • Ensure that all stock items are maintained at appropriate levels in the designated areas.
  • Assist in managing pastry par levels and keeping display cases organized and stocked to meet operational standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the designated work area, including surrounding areas and condiment stations.
  • Follow health and safety standards to ensure all areas are clean and compliant with company expectations.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and management to ensure smooth operations, including assisting with food delivery to customers.
  • Support team members as needed to maintain an efficient and cohesive service environment.
