KSB has nearly 180 years of service whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, birth to 21. KSB prides itself on helping all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired to develop their talents, their skills and attitudes to become confident, competent and independent adults. Currently KSB has a vacant KSB/KSD Residential Program Coordinator position in the Residential Section. As a KSB/KSD Residential Program Coordinator, you will provide care, supervision, and instruction of a unit or units of residential students at the Kentucky School for the Blind.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Three years of experience working with individuals in an instructional or institutional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides coordination and oversight for evening/night Houseparents.
  • Provides training for new houseparents on transition skills which will eventually lead students to the independent program.
  • Acts as a resource for other houseparents with routine questions.
  • Assist and act as a resource for other houseparents for student Disciplinary problems.
  • Assist With Literacy Enhancement.
  • Works with Student Program Supervisor to develop and implement eligibility criteria which mirrors KSB policies for students applying to the Transition and Independent Dorm Programs.
  • Ensuring Student Accountability and safety in the Independent Dorm program, i.e. Conduct Bed Checks, monitoring cooking, supervising students during off campus recreational activities.
  • Works with Dorm Program supervisor to develop and implement expanded core curriculum based on biannual data which reflect individual needs.
  • Interpret and Apply School Policies and Code of Conduct for KSB residential students.
  • Submits student incident Reports as needed.
  • Maintains communication with Parents including weekly independent dorm program schedule posted to the KSB website.
  • Maintain Appropriate Records, Status Sheets and Disciplinary Reports for the Residential Program.
