About The Position

The position of Lifeguard is a seasonal position. The Slide Attendant is responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the pool area during open swim periods.

Requirements

  • The Slide Attendant must be able to perform life-saving techniques including CPR, AED administration and first aid under stressful conditions.
  • Safety and Security – Use good safety awareness, judgment and follow policies; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment following manufacturer safety instructions; and follow agency ergonomic policies and procedures.
  • Attendance/Punctuality – Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.

  • Minimum education is less than high school education.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must possess a current Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Certification (park district will train).

Responsibilities

  • Shall aid the Pool Manager in all areas as assigned
  • Shall report to work 15 minutes before assigned start time
  • Shall be alert and observe the danger areas notifying the manager when appropriate
  • Shall be ready to assist in any first aid situation
  • Shall demonstrate responsible and self-initiated actions that help keep the slides running safely and efficiently
  • Shall perform daily maintenance tasks
  • Shall enforce all rules and safety regulations
  • Shall use disciplinary action when required
  • Shall be on time for work as scheduled or will arrange for a Park District slide attendant substitute when unable to work
  • Shall punch in and out per shift and position
  • Must have thorough knowledge of pertinent safety precautions
  • Attend weekly in services
  • Be available to work night, weekends and day shifts
  • Be comfortable in and around water
