Job Summary (basic description) The Firm’s Practice and Innovation Department is seeking a Knowledge Management Attorney (KM Attorney) to primarily support the needs of the Employment Litigation Practice Group and the Trials and Appeals Practice Group , along with other firmwide and/or practice group KM projects as assigned. This position reports to the Director of KM Attorneys and to Practice Group Leaders (as assigned). The KM Attorney will generally not bill their time but will create and maintain KM content for use by billing attorneys.

Requirements

Minimum of three to eight years’ litigation experience engaged in employment law preferred .
E xcellent writing and communication skills
P assion for knowledge-sharing, organizational skills, proficiency with technology and an aptitude for innovation, efficiency, and excellence in legal work
I nitiative and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Determine the KM goals for assigned practice groups and establish and implement a plan to meet those objectives and to review and assess frequently through feedback.
Monitor and communicate recent developments relevant to the practice group s ’ work and areas of focus.
Assist practice groups and Firm with writing, publishing, and preparation of presentations, speeches, PowerPoints, articles, blogs, and webinars.
Maintain content of the practice group s’ intranet page and public website, ensuring that it is readily accessible, current, and accurate .
Build and maintain a content library, to include model documents, forms, precedents, checklists, and related resources; work with appropriate teams to develop efficient means for replicating documents through available technology, such as document assembly and automation.
Develop internal training programs and materials to foster top-quality lawyering by all members of the practice group s ; help with Attorney and Paralegal orientation and training, coordinate with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Specialists and Professional Development staff.
Maintain a strong understanding of practice group members’ experience and subject matter expertise to assist practice group leaders with ensuring matters are handled in the appropriate locations by lawyers best suited to handle the matter.
Assist practice group leaders with regular attorney meetings to ensure that all members of the group are fully engaged and motivated, updated legal knowledge is disseminated among the attorneys within the group, and that the work of the group is accomplished .
Work with the practice group leaders and Marketing and Business Development to develop external marketing programs to be used throughout the country to highlight the practice group s’ substantive areas and develop new business.
Assist practice group leaders with key business development efforts, including, but not limited to, assistance with request for proposal (RFP) responses, pitch presentations, liaison with finance and IT, writing and organizing practice group members’ articles and blogs posts, engaging on social media, preparing marketing presentations, webinars, and responses to media outlets.
Work directly with pitch teams to convey an understanding of the value of the practice group s to clients or potential clients; assist in providing data and responding to proposal requests, preparing for pitch meetings; coordinating with the group’s Business Development Manager and the proposal team.
Work directly with the Marketing and Business Development department to develop external-facing documents regarding the practice group s’ capabilities and experience.
Assist with managing legal research projects and consult regarding substantive client matters.
Assist in identifying and testing technology and innovation tools and products for internal and external use.
Provide additional information and assistance to advance the interests of the practice group s and its members.
Assist with development of and progress of practice group initiatives and other special projects.
Work with Practice and Industry Group Specialists (PIG S ) and delegate practice group related administrative work to PIGS .
Other duties as assigned.
