About The Position

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Participate in all phases of projects, including requirement definition, design, testing and integration. Follow established engineering procedures and specifications for design. Assist in developing and implementing design procedures for new device packages. Works to improve existing products by analyzing and finding root cause, designing solutions that will not adversely impact entire population of product. Provides project management on existing products, including timelines, schedules, design review, and writing of functional specs. Assist in developing and implementing design procedures for new device packages. Research, select and test vendor products. Research and generate solutions for ECP’s and assist in all functions required to generate and process ECN’s. Support manufacturing floor and machine shop as required. Interface with customers and sales on projects as required. Supervisory Responsibility: May provide work leadership or technical guidance to lower level employees. Qualifications: Education/Training: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Experience: Minimum of five years related mechanical/systems/applications engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least three years related experience with a Master’s degree. Experience in automation equipment, machine design, jigs and fixtures, tooling, handlers, gears, racks, mechanisms and movements required. Experience with semiconductor packages and manufacturing processes helpful. Project management experience on existing products including timelines, schedules, design reviews and writing functional specifications required. Skills/Technical Requirements: Knowledge of good engineering practices and the ability to follow existing guidelines and processes. Knowledge of semiconductor packages and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with automation, robotics, aluminum machining, hardened gears, thermal concerns, wear on materials and aging helpful. Well versed in mean time between failure (MTBF) and failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA). Proficiency with SolidWorks (latest release) and practical experience PC software and practical experience with documentation. Analysis and problem solving skills. Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to give direction to designers and drafters. Ability to work independently on projects and interface with other teams members. Job Conditions/Physical Demands: Domestic and international travel may be required. Works in lab environment with constant or intermittent noise. Prolonged periods of sitting at the computer terminal. Ability to use keyboard. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs., occasional exertion. Protective Devices Required: In required areas.

Requirements
