About The Position

The Kiteboard & Wing Foil Instructor position at Kitty Hawk Kites in Rodanthe, NC, offers an exciting opportunity to teach water sports in a beautiful setting. This role includes a certification course and housing availability. Instructors will primarily teach beginner lessons in Pamlico Sound, known for its shallow waters and optimal wind conditions. The position requires a proactive approach to safety and communication, as well as a growth mindset to continually expand skills and knowledge. Instructors will also work in the retail shop, assisting guests with gear and upselling products.

Requirements

• Prior kiteboard and/or wing foil experience.
• Proficient with water starts, riding upwind, and launching/landing techniques.
• Prior teaching experience is preferred.
• General availability between March 15th and November 15th.
• Situational awareness in a fast-paced setting.
• Professional Air Sports Association (PASA) Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in upselling and assisting guests in a retail environment.
• A passion for water sports and outdoor activities.

Responsibilities

• Teach mostly beginner lessons in kiteboarding and wing foiling.
• Prepare for lessons by assessing conditions and setting up equipment.
• Work in the kiteboard/wing retail shop, providing knowledge on gear and assisting guests.
• Maintain and utilize equipment such as JetSki, kite, harness, twin-tip, hand wing, hydrofoil board, and efoil.
• Participate in cross-training for the hang-gliding school to supplement work hours.
