The Berry Center is an event and entertainment facility that is owned by Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Our Food and Beverage team strives to serve excellent cuisine at affordable prices. We expect very high caliber meals for many types of events such as banquets, meetings, sporting events, theater events, church services, or concerts. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 1 year in the Food Industry, preferably a role preparing food in a kitchen. Food Safety Training Certification required. Physically able to perform assigned duties. Frequently required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level. Occasionally required to climb ladders, ramps and stairs. Continuous walking and standing for extended periods of time. Ability to work all shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Including indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather. Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language to ensure communication is achievable. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time temporary assignment, however, the length of the temporary assignment will be determined based on project needs. PAY: $15/hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare and present hot/cold foods for daily functions. Maintain quality and consistency of product as set forth by Chef. Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products. Maintain professional attitude when dealing with fellow employees and guests. Complete all assignments by end of shift. Respond to changes in work load as assigned by manager. Wash dishes as needed to ensure clean and safe working conditions. Clean, maintain, and sanitize the kitchen and serving areas according to instructions, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and sanitizing equipment with approved cleaning solution. Comply with employee standards of conduct as specified in the CFISD Employee Handbook. For example, dress code, personal appearance, behavior and attendance. Comply with food handling procedures established by the Food and Beverage Department and the State of Texas. Willing to improve one’s culinary skills and knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Department Supervisor. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying items that could vary from 1lb up to 50lbs. Able to continue to work in high stress culinary conditions. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule due to various events. All Food and Beverage positions are part-time/temporary and are scheduled based on the Berry Center’s needs for events. Preference will be given to effective and skilled workers. Must be willing to work in all storage spaces, cold or dry.
