About The Position

The Kitchen Steward at Montrose in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, CA plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and back-of-house areas to ensure smooth and efficient food service operations. This position is responsible for the sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces, contributing directly to food safety and hygiene standards. The Kitchen Steward supports the culinary team by managing dishwashing duties, waste disposal, and assisting with inventory management of cleaning supplies. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and safe working environment, which is essential for the overall guest experience and operational success. The Kitchen Steward is a key team member who helps uphold the high standards of Montrose by ensuring the kitchen operates seamlessly behind the scenes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen steward or similar role preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Basic understanding of sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with kitchen and management staff.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, clean, and sanitize all kitchen utensils, cookware, and equipment promptly and thoroughly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and work surfaces throughout the shift.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of supplies.
  • Support the culinary team by organizing and maintaining kitchen storage areas and dishwashing stations.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to comply with health department standards.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the management team immediately.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours.
