About The Position

A Kitchen Steward is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. They support chefs and kitchen staff by keeping the workspace sanitary and organized.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina (standing long hours, lifting items)
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required)
  • Previous experience in hospitality or food service is a plus, but not mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, and storage areas
  • Sanitize equipment and workstations regularly
  • Dispose of trash and maintain waste areas
  • Ensure proper storage of cleaned items
  • Handle kitchen equipment carefully to avoid damage
  • Report broken or malfunctioning equipment
  • Assist in inventory of cleaning supplies and utensils
  • Help kitchen staff with basic prep tasks when needed
  • Transport food supplies and ingredients within the kitchen
  • Keep service areas stocked and organized
  • Follow food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and correctly
  • Maintain personal hygiene and proper uniform standards
